#spreadthecare to the community

As part of the implementation of critical, non-rescue, lifesaving programming for our city’s at-risk animals, CARE STL implements community outreach programming for those demographics of people, with the ultimate goal being to keep these pets and people together and to achieve intake diversion.

CARE Community Outreach Programs

This program provides pet food and supplies delivery, basic fence and home repairs, and sustainable, ongoing mobile vet services to those animals being cared for by homebound senior citizens living below the poverty line.

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the humane trapping of stray/feral cats so they can be spayed/neutered and returned to their original territory

These programs focus on providing specialized, animal-assisted therapy services for underserved, at-risk populations. In order to achieve our mission, these programs promote tasks that facilitate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) with the goal of:

  • Breaking the school-to-prison pipeline for at-risk youth to prevent incarceration and facilitate rehabilitation within the individual

  • Promoting a heightened sense of community awareness centered around rescue animals and their stories
